The world’s largest solar project is being built in Dubai
It will mean clean energy for 320,000 residences

With COP28 bringing sustainability to the forefront, renewable energy is a hot topic. And the country’s leaders have announced a move towards energy innovation.
Yes, Dubai has started working on the world’s largest concentrated solar power project. The fourth stage of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the new project, will cost Dhs15.78 billion to instate.
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) are playing a key role in the project, stating that it will power 320,000 homes with “clean and sustainable energy’.
To do this, the Dubai Solar Park will use three hybrid technologies, including a parabolic basin complex, CSP tower and solar panels. The park will also be home to the world’s tallest solar tower (at 263.126 metres) and the world’s largest thermal energy storage capacity.
The Solar Park is part of the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 Strategy which aims to see the country emitting zero emissions in 26 years.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, said, “The UAE has a clear vision to transform itself into one of the world’s most sustainable nations.”
He added: “Our journey towards sustainability is comprehensive, encompassing advanced clean energy projects across diverse renewable sources and innovative solutions integrated into various spheres of the economy and society.”
Those interested in the UAE’s plan for sustainability can visit COP28 until Tuesday December 12.
